What does the school counselor do?
 As your student's school counselor, I collaborate with school staff, administration, & community/family members to implement a comprehensive school counseling program. This program is based on Wilmeth's unique behavioral, attendance, and academic data and promotes achievement by addressing each studen'ts emotional, social, and academic/career readiness needs.

My goal is to reach every Wilmeth Longhorn student in their to support them in their academic journey and help guide them along their journey.  My goal also includes supporting each student with their individual social/emotional needs to help them become strong individuals, embrace their uniqueness, and develop a strong and kind character.
Wilmeth's School Counselor delivers services to students thru:

  • whole class direct instruction (guidance lessons)
  • small group direct instruction & short-term counseling
  • individual short-term, goal-focused counseling
  • individual student planning: 
  • collaboration, consultation, & referrals
  • crisis response

The McKinney ISD comprehensive guidance and counseling program is designed to support the learning experience in each of these areas for all students. Our program follows the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs as well as elements of the ASCA model to fulfill the requirements in TEC 33.006 and TEC 33.007.
